Brian Laliberte

I am a big strategic thinker with a passion for helping early stage companies accelerate and sustain their growth.

I love to learn. I pick up and absorb information quickly and continuously challenge myself to learn more, which keeps me on the cutting edge. My natural curiosity drives me to seek out founders solving complex problems. I am energized by learning about their work -- what they do, how they do it, and why. This allows me to serve more effectively as a counselor and advisor dedicated to helping founders make well-informed decisions.

As an investor and advisor to the portfolio companies we support, I strive to be innovative, inventive, original, and resourceful in my thinking. I have a bias for action, but take the time necessary to assess a problem. I excel at analyzing complex and often voluminous information and then clarifying, synthesizing, and explaining it. I leverage my ability to learn and think critically at a fast pace to create solutions to expected and unexpected challenges. I use the same approach to take advantage of promising opportunities. I quickly weigh alternative paths and determine the best one. My ability to anticipate, play out different scenarios, and plan ahead allow me to be an agile decision-maker.

I take the world as it is and am practical and realistic in my approach to creating solutions to complex problems. But, I am constantly inspired by the future and what it could be. I love to think about what we can accomplish as we continue to create, innovate, and transform society through the responsible application of technology. I want to work with founders who share this passion to bring their vision to life.

Prior to founding Oak Moon Ventures, I practiced law for 20 years as a trial lawyer and litigator. I solved problems for clients in volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous circumstances that affected their lives and livelihood and the economic security of their companies, employees, and shareholders.

I was privileged to attend the University of Michigan (B.A. 1996) and Case Western Reserve University School of Law (J.D. 1999). I am completing my MBA at The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business, and will graduate in May 2020.
